Your tasks are yours. Todo Whale is built so that we never see them.
- We don't collect your tasks, notes or anything else you put in the app.
- The app has no ads and doesn't track you across other apps or websites.
- We never sell your data.
- What you tell Smart Whale and Smart steps never reaches us.
What the app keeps, and where
Todo Whale stores your tasks, lists, notes, steps, tags, reminders, your world (lights, scenes, postcards), your rhythm and your settings on your iPhone.
If iCloud is turned on, this data also syncs through your own iCloud account (Apple's CloudKit private database), so it's there on a new phone. Data in your private iCloud database is stored by Apple under Apple's privacy policy, and we can't see or access it.
Smart Whale and Smart steps
When you use Smart Whale or Smart steps, your words are handled by your iPhone and, where available, Apple Intelligence, under Apple's privacy policy. They're never sent to us. If you tap Speak, Apple's speech recognition turns what you say into text, under Apple's privacy policy. We never receive the recording or the text. The same goes for the dictation button on your keyboard.
Notifications
Reminders and the focus timer's end notice are scheduled on your iPhone. We don't run a server that sends them, and we don't receive anything about them.
Photos
If you save a postcard, the app asks for permission to add images to your photo library. It only adds the postcard. It never reads, uploads or looks at your photos. Postcards show your scene and a few numbers, never the names of your tasks.
Purchases
Whale Plus is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, and we never receive your card or payment details. The app only learns from Apple whether Plus is active on your Apple Account.
App Store statistics and crash reports
Apple gives developers anonymous, combined statistics such as downloads and crash reports, and only from people who chose to share analytics with app developers. You can change this on your iPhone in Settings, under Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements. These reports don't identify you.
This website
todowhale.com uses analytics, provided by Google Analytics, to count visits and see which pages people read, so we can improve the site. Analytics records things like the pages you view, how you found the site, your device and browser, and an approximate location, as described in Google's privacy policy. We don't use this information for ads.
In the European Economic Area, the UK, Switzerland and Quebec, analytics doesn't use cookies or identify you until you allow it. Elsewhere it's on by default, and you can turn it off. Wherever you are, you can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page.
The site loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when a page loads. Our web host may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and to keep the site running.
Deleting your data
You're in control. In the app, Settings › Erase everything removes your data from your iPhone. Data synced to iCloud can be removed in your iPhone's iCloud storage settings. Deleting the app removes the data stored on that iPhone.
Children
The app doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If Todo Whale ever adds something that works differently, such as an optional account or anonymous usage analytics, we'll update this policy before that feature is released and change the date at the top.
